Valerie M. Mendoza
Valerie M. Mendoza received her Ph.D. in history from the University of California, Berkeley. She has taught Latinx studies at several universities and specializes in Latinxs in the Midwest. Her most recent work, “The Guadalupe Center and Kansas City’s Mexican Immigrant Community, 1919-1940,” appears in Wide Open Town: Kansas City During the Pendergast Years, edited by Dianne Mutti Burke, Jason Roe, and John Herron. She currently serves as the assistant director of Student Support Services at Avila University.
