FAQ

Why should I be published?

Being published is a great thing for undergraduates wanting to go to graduate school, professional schools, or into the job market. Being published in an academic journal means that you understand how to do research, how to critically evaluate your own writing, and how to take criticism from others about your work. All in all, publications make you look awesome.

Wow, the Zenith! Undergraduate Research Journal for the Humanities looks awesome! How can I be a part of it?

Beyond submitting, you can apply to be a part of the staff for the next issue. We will be accepting applications to be a member of the editorial committee through September of 2020.

When can I submit my research?

Zenith! is now accepting submissions through February 12, 2021.

Does the subject of my paper count as Humanities?

Does your research fall under one of our Partners' departments, or under international studies, or under interdisciplinary studies? If yes, then it is Humanities. If no, then it is not. Political science papers, however, are on the line between being Humanities and being Social Science. The editors are more likely to decide that political science papers advocating policy are Social Science; whereas, editors are more likely to decide that political science papers that are case studies are Humanities. If you are unsure, you can email the Editor-in-Chief for clarification.

Can I submit multiple papers?

Yes, but there is no guarantee that you will be published in Zenith!. If two or more of your submissions get approved in the first round, you will be asked to pick one to resubmit in the second round.

Can I submit in a language other than English?

No, our editorial committee is not that confident with their language skills.

I missed the submission deadline and I am graduating, can I still submit?

You cannot submit to this issue of Zenith!. However, as long as you have not graduated more than two years ago, you can submit to a subsequent issue.

I have submitted to Zenith! or the URJH before, but I was not published. Can I submit to another issue?
