A Comparative Sketch of Pueblo Languages

Abstract

Pueblo Indians of the American Southwest have lived in a contiguous area for many centuries. Close contacts and bi- or multilingualism in different Indian languages may have led to diffusion of linguistic features across the language boundaries. In an attempt to determine some of the shared phonological traits, this paper compares the sound systems of Pueblo languages.
