Slavey, an Athapaskan language, has a rich expressive vocabulary which exhibits many of the traits discussed in Mithun (1982), but which violates the syllable structure constraints of the language. These syllable structure constraint violations are evidence for the resistance to sound change found by Mithun in this subset of the lexicon.Downloads
