Author Guidelines

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors who do not adhere to these guidelines.

1. Authors must follow MLA for notes, citations, and works cited (all notes must appear at the end but before the list of Works Cited).
2. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
3. The submission file is in Microsoft Word or WordPerfect document file format.
4. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
5. All illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points rather than at the end. It is the author’s responsibility to have the corresponding permissions readily available for those images.
6. The file facilitates Blind Review. That is, expressions of thanks to people, universities, etc., have not been included. Please save the document after deleting all information related to the author (save / properties or document tools / delete any personal information / save).

Lineamientos para autores

Los materiales que sean enviados sin seguir los lineamientos no podrán ser tomados en cuenta.
Antes de enviar su manuscrito, se necesita revisar cuidadosamente que se haya cumplido con todos los lineamientos. De lo contrario, el material puede ser rechazado inmediatamente. Asegúrese de lo siguiente:

1. Los autores deben seguir el formato de MLA para las notas (que deben aparecer al final del artículo pero antes de los trabajos citados), las referencias en el texto y la lista de trabajos citados.
2. El manuscrito es de su autoría y no ha sido previamente publicado, ni está bajo evaluación en ninguna otra revista.
3. El archivo está en formato Microsoft Word o WordPerfect.
4. En la medida de lo posible, se han proporcionado todos los enlaces (links) referidos en el documento.
5. Todas las imágenes, ilustraciones y tablas se han colocado dentro del texto y en su lugar correspondiente (a diferencia de colocarlas al final del texto). Es responsabilidad del autor el contar con los permisos correspondientes para la publicación de las imágenes.
6. El archivo está listo para enviarse a ser evaluado anónimamente. Es decir, no se han incluido expresiones de agradecimientos a personas, universidades, etc. Favor de guardar el documento después de haber eliminado toda la información relacionada con el autor (guardar/ propiedades o herramientas del documento / se elimina cualquier información personal / guardar).

 Limitations of space require that submissions conform to the following maximum lengths:

• Critical studies: 7000 words (12pt font, double-spaced, 1 inch margins)
• Interviews: 2000 words
• Festival Reports: 2000 words
• Performance Reviews: 500 words plus photos
• Reviews: 500 words for a critical study / 750 words for a published / 1000 words for a play collection

Submissions that exceed these limits will be returned without consideration.

Tome en cuenta que la revista tiene espacio limitado, por lo que se requiere que todos los manuscritos que nos envíe sigan las siguientes especificaciones:

• Estudios críticos: 7000 palabras, tamaño de letra 12, escrito a doble espacio y con una pulgada (2.54 cm.) de sangría (o texto indentado)
• Entrevistas: 2000 palabras
• Reportes sobre festivales: 2000 palabras
• Reseñas de puestas en escena: 500 palabras (puede incluir fotos)
• Reseñas: 500 palabras para estudios críticos / 750 palabras para obras que ya han sido publicadas / 1000 palabras para una colección de obras.

Los materiales que excedan estos límites no serán tomados en cuenta.

Submission Preparation Checklist

• Before submitting, verify that your file contains the following
• Antes de enviar, verifica que el archivo contenga lo siguiente

1. Document format:

__ 1 inch margins
__ Times New Roman, 12 point font
__ Left justify all
__ Double space main text (including blocked quotes)
__ Use italics instead of underline (including notes and bibliography)
__ Delete header and footer information
__ Title of article (left justify, bold)
__ Double space between title and author and text
__ Epigraph, 10-point font (place toward right side of page)
__ Section headings in article (bold headings, two spaces before, none after)

El formato del documento:
__ Sangría (texto indentado) de una pulgada (2.54 cm.)
__ Times New Roman de tamaño 12
__ El texto está alineado/justificado a la izquierda
__ El cuerpo del texto está a doble espacio, incluso las citas largas
__ Se han usado cursivas (en lugar de subrayar) para los títulos
__ No se incluyen encabezados, ni pies de página
__ El título del artículo está alineado a la izquierda y en negrita
__ Hay un doble espacio entre el título y el cuerpo del texto
__ Cuando se incluye un epígrafe, el tamaño de la letra es de 10 puntos y se alinea hacia la derecha de la página
__ Los subtítulos están en negrita, con dos espacios antes del subtítulo, y ningún espacio entre el subtítulo y el texto que le sigue.

2. Documentation:
__ left justify and bold Works Cited section header
__ Single space works cited entries with no spaces between titles
__ MLA Style documentation in text
__ MLA Style works cited
__ Use _____. for same author
__ Use hanging indents in works cited.

Trabajos citados (referencias):
__ El título Trabajos citados (en lugar de Bibliografía) se ha alineado a la izquierda y está en negrita
__ La lista de referencias está a un solo espacio (1.0) y sin espacios entre las entradas
__ Se usa el formato MLA en el cuerpo del texto
__ Se ha seguido el formato MLA en la sección de Trabajos citados
__ Se utiliza _____. para títulos diferentes del mismo autor
__ Cada una de las referencias lleva sangría francesa (la primera línea sin sangría y las siguientes líneas con una sangría de 0.5 cm).

3. Notes:

__ Use end notes instead of footnotes. Notes are incorporated at the end of the body of the text but before the Works Cited.
__ Left justify and bold Notes section header
__ Single space notes with no spaces between entries

Notas:
__ No se utilizan notas al pie. Las notas se incorporan al final del cuerpo del texto pero antes de los Trabajos citados. 
__ El subtítulo Notas ha sido alineado a la izquierda y está en negrita
__ Las notas están a un solo espacio (1.0) y no hay espacio entre ellas.

4. Spelling:

__ Spell check
__ Check to see that the word theater / theatre is consistent within article
__ For articles in English, punctuation inside quotation marks. For articles in Spanish, punctuation outside quotation marks.

Ortografía:
__ Se ha revisado cuidadosamente la ortografía.
__ Si se incluye la palabra ‘teatro’ en inglés, verificar que haya consistencia. Se puede usar o theater o theatre.
__ Para los artículos escritos en español, los signos de puntuación se han colocado después de las comillas. Ejemplo: “Rosa”. (a diferencia del formato en inglés “Rosa.”).
