Nadine Bermudez is an Associate Professor of Chicana/o Studies at East Los Angeles College. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles from the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies, division of Social Sciences and Comparative Education, with emphasis in Race and Ethnic Studies. Her interest in public education and the segregation of Mexican origin students stems from professional experiences as a former elementary school teacher and her familial ties to the landmark desegregation case, Mendez et al. v. Westminster et al.
