Author Guidelines

Thank you for considering the Journal of Amateur Sport (JAS) for your scholarly work. Please follow the guidelines laid out below when submitting your manuscript to JAS. To aid in the double-blind review process, please do not include any identifitying information in the full manuscript. The manuscript should not be simultaneously submitted for publication or been published previously. Manuscripts should follow the current Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association with exception to the elements noted below. The document must be double-spaced, in Garamond font, size 14, and utilize one inch margins throughout. Maximum length, including references and figures, is 50 pages. Be sure to include a running header, page numbers, and footnotes (when appropriate). Authors are responsible for receiving permission to reproduce copyrighted material before submitting their manuscript for publication.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, DOIs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is double-spaced; uses a 14-point Garamond font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed either within the text at the appropriate points or at the end of the document with corresponding placeholders.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
