Conservation Science and the Knowledge Shortfalls

Resumen

There is much data publicly available on the biodiversity of the world. It would appear then that conserving biodiversity is just a matter of using the data. In this contribution I argue that conservation requires not only data availability, but also conversations about purpose, and present examples of how just being able to use large biodiversity databases is seldom enough to achieve successful conservation.
