Author Guidelines

All submissions must be authored by a university undergraduate student currently enrolled in university or be within 24 months of graduation. Students outside the University of Kansas must be able to provide a valid school email or other documentation for proof of graduation. The submission may not have been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration. Finally, all authors must agree to the terms of the Journal Publication Agreement.

Manuscripts must be a formal research paper on a traditional structure of Introduction, Literature Review, Research Design, Analysis, Discussion, and Conclusion. See the author guide for details of what each section contains. These types of projects are most commonly competed as an independent study, senior thesis, or undergraduate capstone seminar.

All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for  review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements.

Authors are strongly encouraged to consult the author guide before submission. Authors will have the greatest success on the initial editor's evaluation if the manuscript contains the appropriate layout and content.

Finally, authors should review the KUJIS policy on AI software to confirm they are following the appropriate protocols.
