Volume 38: Re-imagining the American Dream
Social science researchers have directly challenged and problematized the ideology of the "American Dream” by critically analyzing and exposing the fallacies and consequences of neoliberalism, the instability of the nuclear American family structure, and the dire consequences of marginalization and colonization. Critical analysis only takes us so far; social scientists may also have a role to play in developing solutions for imagined futures.
The editors of STAR invite social science scholars to submit article-length manuscripts focusing on original empirical research, theoretical contributions, book reviews, research notes, teaching articles, and critical literature reviews that addresses this year’s theme. Authors are encouraged to not only critique and analyze the “American Dream’s” ideological premise, but to conceptualize possibilities for a “new” dream. . What theoretical and empirical approaches to this contemporary moment hold promise for imagined futures?
