Author Guidelines
Original Manuscript and Commentary Submission Guidelines
- Manuscript must be submitted in a Word Document, be double-spaced with a 12-point font, have page numbers, and 1-inch margins.
- The manuscript must be formatted in a standard citation style: MLA, APA, or Chicago Style.
- Must include separate attachment for author, affiliation, and contact information.
- Abstract must not exceed 300 words, and should appear before the full paper.
- Submissions should be between 3000 to 4500 words and prepared for blind review.
1000-Word Philosophy
- All 1000-Word Philosophy submission should follow the above criteria for full-length submissions, except no abstract is needed.
Book Review Guidelines
- Auslegung publishes book reviews touching on philosophic-issues.
- While open to publishing non-philosophy book reviews, it is encouraged that reviews center philosophical issues.
- Book reviews do not require an abstract.
- Book Reviews should not exceed 3000 words.
- All book reviews should be submitted as a Word Document, with a 12-point font, double-spaced, and be formatted using one of the accepted citation styles mentioned above - i.e. APA, MLA, Chicago.
Where Should I submit?
- Submissions should be submitted using Auslegung's online submission portal.
- Submissions should not be sent to the editor-in-chief; If issues occur with submissions, authors should reach out to the editor-in-chief to technical support for Auslegung.
What exactly do you publish?
- Auslegung publishes original research articles, commentaries, and book reviews relating to philosophy. This is a generalist journal, however, each editorial board has specific strengths relating to certain sub-fields of philosophy. When the editorial board cannot adequately review an article, or otherwise, a sufficient reviewer is sought.
Submission Preparation Checklist
All submissions must meet the following requirements:
- Submission has not been published elsewhere nor is it under consideration at another journal - unless the submission is sufficiently distinct which must be explained to the Editors.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
- Manuscript must be submitted as a Word Document, double-spaced, with 12-point font, including page numbers, and 1-inch margins.
- The manuscript must be formatted according to standard citation styles: APA, MLA, or Chicago. Note: author may be required to change citation styles in accordance with journal publication style.
- Must include separate attachments for figures.
