Author Guidelines

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with the items in the Submission Preparation Checklist, above.  Submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts must contain the essential elements to evaluate a manuscript: abstract, keywords, figures, tables, and references.

The journal uses the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th edition. Upon acceptance, the author will be responsible for preparing the text to adhere to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in these Author Guidelines.

The manuscript length might vary by discipline, but the journal will publish peer-reviewed scholarly papers between 7,000 and 10,000 words.

The submission file should be in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format that has been correctly anonymized so that author names and bios do not appear in the article and the document metadata has been cleaned.  Please see Remove hidden data and personal information by inspecting documents, presentations, or workbooks.

The text should be double-spaced with 1-inch (2.5 cm) margins on all sides and no extra spaces between paragraphs. A 12-point standard font such as Times New Roman is required for all text, including headings, notes, and references. Any unusual characters or diacritics should be flagged by placing the entire word in red type.

Systematic Literature Reviews

In addition, the journal invites proposals for peer-reviewed systematic literature reviews on specific topics and questions. For submitting a proposal, please contact the editors, mentioning your interest in the systematic literature review, your idea for the topic and research question, and your estimated timeline for submitting the systematic literature review.

Peer review

The journal adheres to rigorous academic standards. Articles will first be internally reviewed, for relevance to Druze Studies, by two members out of three: the Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editor, and/or one editorial board member.

Only relevant manuscripts will be sent for external double-blind review by at least two scholars of international repute.

The peer review will evaluate all submissions' scholarly merit, originality, methodology, theoretical contributions, and relevance to Druze Studies.

Ethics Statement

Authors published in Druze Studies Journal (DSJ) certify that their works are original and their own. The editors certify that all materials, with the possible exception of editorial introductions, and some types of commentary have been subjected to double-blind peer review by qualified scholars in the field. While the publishers and the editorial board make every effort to see that no inaccurate or misleading data, opinions, or statements appear in this journal, they wish to make it clear that the data and opinions appearing in the articles herein are the sole responsibility of the contributor concerned.

Upon acceptance, authors are required to submit the signed publication agreement and all necessary permission letters for reprinting or modifying copyrighted materials, both textual and graphic.
