About the Journal

The Yearbook of German American Studies is published annually by the University of Kansas Libraries for the Society for German American Studies. The editor welcomes contributions from members of the Society for German American Studies in English, preferably, or German on the history, language, literature, and culture of the German element in the Americas.  This includes coverage of the immigrants and their descendants from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and other German-speaking areas of Europe.

History

The Yearbook of German American Studies (1981-present) is the latest of three journals published by the Society for German American Studies.  It was preceded by German American Studies (1969-75) and the Journal of German American Studies (1976-1980).  The digital version of the journal is published by the University of Kansas Libraries for the Society.

Peer Review

All submissions are reviewed by three members of the Editorial Board.  Manuscripts undergo a double-anonymous peer review. The identities of the author and the reviewers are hidden from each other.  A majority of the three Editorial Board members must recommend the work for publication, however, the final publication decision is made by the Editor.

Ethics

This journal follows best practices for publishing and follows the Principles of transparency and best practice in scholarly publishing, including those outlined in the Publication ethics and related editorial policies, Peer Review and Advertising sections in the Principles.
