Directives aux auteurs

Aion encourages and welcomes submission of two types of contributions:

  • Proposals of special thematic issues (including 8-10 articles dedicated to a particular topic or concept plus an introduction authored by the editor(s) or guest editor(s));
  • Proposals of articles intended for non-thematic issues.

Submissions of special thematic numbers should include

  • The presentation of the topic/concept for the special thematic number and its significance (500 words);
  • A list of contributors with titles and extended abstracts (300 words);
  • Brief CVs (300 words) of the editor(s) or guest editor(s) and of the authors;
  • Editor(s) or guest editor(s) should submit their proposals for special thematic issues to aion.journal.ph.sc@gmail.com, as an attachment.

Submissions of articles should include:

  • The text (pdf and doc) anonymous;
  • A separate word doc with the title, abstract, author’s name, email and affiliation;
  • The abstract should be sent in English and in a second language (Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, French…..) 300 words each.

Authors should submit their article plus other necessary items via the journal system.

PAGE SETUP

  • Font Style: Times New Roman
  • Title of the paper and author’s name: font size 14
  • Abstract: font size 12
  • Body of Text: left/right justification, 1.5 line spacing (font size 12)
  • In-Text Citations: quotes 5 lines or longer should be separated from the body of text by an extra space before and after it (font size 10)
  • Footnotes: font size 10
  • Bibliography: at end of the text, font size 10
  • Page Numbering: bottom of page, centered

CITATION

Citing an author or authors

  • Author’s surname (with or without first name), followed by Date: p. / pp.

Ibid. (short for Ibidem)

  • Use Ibid. (in italics) to cite the same work and page as previously cited;
  • Use Ibid. plus page number(s) when citing the same work but different page(s).

Citing an Editor or Editors:

  • Use ed. to cite the editor of a collective work edited by a single person;
  • Use eds. for a multi-person editorship.

Quotation Mark System

  • Use high quotation marks “ ” to highlight a word or concept;
  • Use low quotation marks « » only for in-text citations;
  • Use high quotation marks within low quotation marks if there is a citation within the citation: « “ ” ».

Textual Citations

  • Citations 4 lines or shorter: insert in body of text, marked by lower quotation marks;
  • Citations exceeding 5 lines: insert in font size 10, with an extra space before and after the cited text, with footnote number placed before the closing period. No quotation marks needed.

FOOTNOTE REFERENCES

Referencing Published Books:

  • Author’s surname, first name initial, followed by Date, Book title (in italics), Place, Publishing House.

Referencing Translated Versions (followed by original work, in brackets):

  • Ex: Bachelard, G., Poetics of Space, Eng. trans. by M. Jolas, Boston, Beacon Press, 1964 [La poétique de l'espace, Paris, Puf, 1957].

Referencing Book Chapters:

  • Author’s surname, first name initial, Date, “Chapter title” (in quotes), in Book title (italicized), Editor’s surname, first name initial (ed. for single editor, eds. for multiple editors), Date, Place, Publisher, p. /pp.

Referencing Essays or Papers in a Journal:

  • Author's surname, first name initial, Date, “Title of the article”, in Journal Titl (in italics), Volume No., Issue No., p./pp.

Referencing Online Papers:

  • Author's surname, first name initial, Date, “Title of the article”, Title of the Journal (in italics), Volume No., Issue Nº., p./pp., paper’s link address (last consultation).

BIBLIOGRAPHY

  • Bibliography should be included at the end of the article (body font size 10).

Referencing Books:

  • Author’s surname, abbreviated first name, separated by a comma, Date, title of work in italics, Place of Edition, Publishing House.

Referencing Translated Works:

  • After listing the translated work, add the target language, the translator’s first initial and surname, and publication data. The original work should be after referenced in brackets.

Referencing Chapters in Collected Anthologies

  • Author’s surname, first name initial, Date, “Chapter title”, in Editor’s Surname, first name initial (ed. for single editor, eds. for multiple editors), Book Title (in italics), Date, Place, Publisher, p. / pp.

Liste de vérification de la soumission

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • If the article is accepted, the author agrees to the terms in the Publication Agreement, including the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License.
