Abstract

Andrena melaleuca Pérez is reported for the first time from Italy (Sicily), representing the first record of this species in Europe. We discuss its known distribution and potential route of entry and designate a lectotype. The Andrena Fabricius of Sicily are discussed as a melting pot of North African and south-eastern European faunal elements.
